Svet kot dobava in nakup / The world as supply and purchase

Temeljna poteza mediatizirane družbe niso aparati, temveč položaj, v katerem nekdo drug za nas izbira in pripravlja tisto, kar poslušamo in gledamo. Ta položaj velja ne glede na namen, tako v primeru relevantnega informiranja kot namernega zavajanja. Zavedanje, da »naše« izkustvo pripravlja nekdo drug, je povečini izgubljeno. Kako izkušajo svet tisti, ki ostajajo zgolj medijsko občinstvo in kakšne posledice ima to za temeljne človeške kapacitete? Na to vprašanje bomo skušali odgovoriti iz vidika sredstev, torej kakšen formativni potencial imajo medijske tehnike in tehnologije kot take, in kako sprevračajo pogoje našega izkustva sveta.

The fundamental trait of a mediatized society is not the apparatus, but a situation in which someone else chooses and prepares for us what we listen to and watch. This situation applies regardless of the purpose, both in the case of relevant informing and intentional misleading. The awareness that “our” experience is being prepared by someone else is mostly lost. How do those who remain mere media audiences experience the world and what are the consequences for fundamental human capacities? We will try to answer this question in terms of the means, that is, what is the formative potential media techniques and technologies have as such, and how do they overturn the conditions of our experience of the world.
