Algoritemsko bančništvo in posegi v zasebnost / Algorithmic Banking and Its Interventions into Privacy

The financial industry invests large amounts of money in the development of algorithms. Developers ensure that the algorithms can better assess risks than traditional methods, used by banks and insurance companies. The interests of banks and insurance companies are enormous, as their profits depend on correct risk assessment, e.i. from a correct assessment of the credit risk of clients. However, since new technologies build a “better” risk assessment through the collection and processing of new data, a number of important questions arise: what kind of consumer data are collected and how are they processed, stored and distributed, what influence a credit rating, created by algorithms, how these changes are monitored by the legislation, whether our credit rating may soon  depend on the quality of our genome. It also raises the question of how algorithmic banking will impact the market structure: will small financial institutions be pushed out of the market, while big monopoly banks will be strengthened due to the use of new technologies?
